PRESS RELEASE
RICCOBONI’S SPACE AT ECOMONDO WAS A VANTAGE POINT FOR UNDERSTANDING THE GREEN TRANSITION
THE 2024 SUSTAINABILITY REPORT WAS PRESENTED WITH A CLEAR IMPROVEMENT IN ENVIRONMENTAL PERFORMANCE

Riccoboni Holding attended the 28th edition of Ecomondo, the Green Technology Expo, a key international event for the green transition and circular economy. As ever, Riccoboni’s space was in pavilion C1, but it was bigger this time with a meetings area and more space for the commercial side and the usual hospitality sealed by the great success of Emilian cuisine.

In Riccoboni Holding’s meetings area, there were opportunities for in-depth analysis such as the session organised by the Sistema HSE network involving over 50 managers. The issues of Health, Safety and the Environment were addressed using a managerial approach through integrated management of workers’ health, workplace safety and protecting the environment at companies. A professional with this job, known as an HSE Manager, develops management systems, procedures and policies to prevent accidents and risks, improve sustainability and guarantee regulatory compliance.

Riccoboni Holding’s 2024 Sustainability Report was also presented in the meetings area: it was an opportunity for discussion, with the benefit this year of important speakers such as Angelo Robotto, the Director for the Environment and Energy for the Region of Piedmont, Elisa Perrotta, the Director of AssoAmbiente, and Alessandro Battaglino, the General Manager of Barricalla. The fourth edition published by Riccoboni Group was explained by Ilaria Riccoboni, the communications manager, Filippo Bado, the QHSE manager, and Albina Ambrogio, the President of Confini Sustainability Lab. The Sustainability Report consolidates the Group’s strategic vision, with in-depth analysis of double materiality and a risk-based approach to relevant issues: alongside this, analysis of the policies, actions and objectives connected to the impacts identified was clarified and shared among the Group’s companies. Furthermore, the point of view of stakeholders was further reinforced and integrated into company analysis.
Compared with the previous financial year of 2023, in terms of environmental performance, the Report highlighted a reduction of 3% in energy consumption and of 2.8% in CO2 emissions, with an increase in waste handled for clients, the company’s core business, alongside +13% in hazardous waste sent for recovery or recycling; in terms of company performance, employee growth was analysed, with +8.4% and +86% in permanent contracts. When it comes to health and safety, the company stands out for not having recorded a single accident all throughout 2024. Regarding governance, alongside the certifications achieved and policies adopted, the Group is consolidating its economic growth performance with +8% in economic value generated.

Riccoboni's Space was also visited by students from the Green Jobs & Skills project run by Ecomondo and ART-ER. These talented youngsters, as real experts in sustainable development, met Riccoboni managers to discuss sustainability and green issues. The goal was to help match talent and businesses in Emilia-Romagna, fostering the creation of a regional community, while bringing out the innovation requirements of companies and the skills of students, graduates and postgraduates in the field of sustainability and the green transition.

On Ecomondo’s final day, Riccoboni's space welcomed two schools from Rimini: year 5 from the Maestre Pie Institute in Rimini and year 4 from ITT Marco Polo in Rimini. This meeting allowed students to get to know Riccoboni Group better as well as its various activities and to go into deeper analysis of the issue of industrial waste management. The report by the Riccoboni Group’s HR manager also allowed the students to get a better idea of the identikit of professional profiles needed by the company.

“At this year’s event, we opened up our space at Ecomondo to start a discussion both about the issues of the green transition and its applications including in terms of health and safety as well as a dialogue with future generations who are increasingly engaged with environmental issues that also often become opportunities for professional pathways”, explained Ilaria Riccoboni, the Communications Manager, and Nicole Riccoboni, the Special Initiatives Manager, “our commitment is confirmed by the results of our Sustainability Report which proves how environmental performance is improving year on year through the constant collaboration among the various sectors of our company”.
